El Arish port is the only Mediterranean port in North Sinai. Until 1883 it was a small port for fishing vessels without any facilities.

The port was subject to several development process and become in 1987 a sea protected port suitable for fishing activities.

After the completion of the development phases, the port can also be used for the purposes of industry, cargo, transit trade, agricultural products exports and maritime sports
